(Question No. 345)

Senator Archer asked the Minister representing the Treasurer, upon notice, on 8 September 1983:

What is the amount of revenue expected to be raised from baking powder, cream of tartar and bi-carbonate of soda for use other than for culinary purposes which are now to be taxed at 20 per cent in this year and in a full year?

Senator Walsh —The Treasurer has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

Statistics of baking powder, cream of tartar and bi-carbonate of soda for use other than for culinary purposes are not available. However, the amount of sales tax revenue expected to be raised from taxing them at 20 per cent is not considered to be significant.
