Senator JONES —My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations. What sums of money have been allocated to community employment program projects undertaken in Queensland? How does the rate of absorption of those funds for the program in Queensland compare with that of other States and how many unemployed people have been employed so far on CEP projects in Queensland? Is the Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations satisfied with the general response and level of assistance being given by the Queensland Government in the administration of the program in that State?

Senator BUTTON —I am able generally to answer yes to those questions; that is to say, although there was perhaps a somewhat shaky start in Queensland in relation to the various parts of the question asked by Senator Jones, the answer is generally that yes, the progress of the CEP in Queensland is satisfactory. I do have, though not with me, some statistics which illustrate the answer I have just given, and I will make those available as soon as I can, perhaps at the end of Question Time.
