Senator BJELKE-PETERSEN —My question is directed to the Leader of the Government in the Senate. I refer to the Prime Minister's National Press Club speech last week in which he said that after conversations with 'some senior Ministers that I have had time to consult' he had decided that the whole question of asset testing had to be looked at again by Cabinet at its Hobart meeting last week. Given that Senator Grimes is fourth in the Ministry ranking and he was not informed of the Prime Minister's decision to back down, can the Minister inform the Senate whether he or Mr Bowen were consulted on this matter?

Senator BUTTON —I cannot inform the Senate in relation to Mr Bowen. I suggest that Senator Bjelke-Petersen pursue that matter with Mr Bowen in the House of Representatives through one of her National Party colleagues. I was not consulted about the details of the announcement that was made at the Press Club on Wednesday last week.
