To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned citizens of South Australia respectfully showeth:

1. That the Government of Australia is discriminating against Australians living in remote areas through the introduction by Telecom of the 'Countrywide Calling' telephone system;

2. That people adversely affected by the new telephone charging system should not be further disadvantaged by having to bear these additional charges; and

3. Calls on the Government to allow those disadvantaged by the new arrangement to retain their local call status.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
