Senator HARRADINE(2.51) — The definition contained in this legislation is precisely the same as that contained in other legislation. It will have to be tested in a similar manner to that in which other legislation is tested. Quite frankly, in those circumstances I am glad that Senator Martin showed that Senator Ryan's comments are ludicrous. It was suggested that this was in some way to give nutty people, who may think that males are better than females, some way out of the Bill. It obviously is nonsense. This amendment is to provide a genuine conscientious objection provision for people who should not have to choose between the law and their own consciences on this matter. We should not set up that opportunity if this amendment is lost.
