Senator WALTERS(2.13) —I would be interested in Senator Ryan's description of a Christian school. I think we probably both have one in mind.

Senator Harradine —You are stopping me moving my amendment.

Senator WALTERS —I am sorry. We now have only three minutes left.

The CHAIRMAN —The question is 'that amendments Nos 9 and 10 moved by Senator Martin to clause 38 be agreed to'.

A division having been called and the bells being rung-

Senator Walters —I raise a point of order. I know it is possibly too late, but could we not be allowed an extra one and a half minutes? The division should not be taking place in the time allotted to debate on this amendment.

The CHAIRMAN —I have no authority to do that, Senator Walters. The Committee has resolved in a particular way. I am committed to the Committee decision.

Senator Walters —The agreement on the guillotine was that the time allotted was for debate. Therefore, the extra minute and a half that remains while this division is taking place surely should be given to Senator Harradine to allow him to move his amendment.

The CHAIRMAN —The time allotted is for debate plus any divisions on the debate. It is for the consideration of the clauses, which includes divisions.

Question put:

That the amendments (Senator Martin's) be agreed to.
