Senator SIBRAA —Is the Minister representing the Special Minister of State aware that there were a number of problems with mobile polling during the Northern Territory election? In particular I refer to the lack of a notification period before a change of poll site or visit time, lack of thought given to location and duration of mobile polls and problems associated with mobile polls being placed on pastoralists' properties. Will the Minister investigate these problems in order that they do not occur during the next Federal election? I remind the Minister that this could now be a matter of urgency following the decisions made yesterday.

Senator BUTTON —Those complaints about the Northern Territory election are a matter of public knowledge. Attention has been drawn to them in the Press. I will convey the contents of Senator Sibraa's question to the Special Minister of State. I am sure he will look into the matter and provide an early answer. I will also look into the matter in respect of the Commonwealth situation following general reviews which are taking place as a result of the report of the Joint Select Committee on Electoral Reform.
