Senator HAINES(11.47) —I will be extremely brief. Like Senator Martin, I too have listened very carefully to this debate because it is one which particularly interests me. I think my views on abortion are fairly well known. I have certainly always made them clear to the women's movement in South Australia. I am totally opposed to abortion as a form of contraception, unlike Senator Martin, who appears not to share the belief that abortion under any circumstances is morally wrong. However, having said that, I would like to diverge from Senator Martin's other point; that is, I am totally convinced by the Minister's statement that the amendments to clause 32 will satisfy the objections that Senator Harradine put forward in his amendment. It is therefore not the intention of my Party-notwithstanding my views, but because I accept what Senator Ryan has said-to support Senator Harradine's amendment.
