Senator HARRADINE(8.38) — My question relates to clause 3 (d) which details, as one of the objects of the Act, 'to promote recognition and acceptance within the community of the principle of the equality of men and women'. What, in this context, is the 'principle of the equality of men and women', recognising that there are in fact differences between men and women? What exactly, in this context, does the principle of equality mean and imply? Does, in fact, paragraph (d) add anything to the Bill? If not, should it not be deleted as I am suggesting?
