Senator PETER BAUME(5.55) —I do not want to delay the Bill. However, any amounts contained for any institutions in the States Grants ( Tertiary Education Assistance) Amendment Bill relate to decisions by this Government. This Government has put this Bill forward. I repeat that if we add the amounts that are available for the unamalgamated colleges, the sum is slightly less than it would have been had they been treated as amalgamated colleges. In relation to Goulburn, the concern is that the Premier of New South Wales has made a statement which many people in Goulburn have received well because they are concerned about the campus. The Minister for Education and Youth Affairs (Senator Ryan) may see some unilateral action by New South Wales. I hope she has some funding proposals. The Premier said that he will unamalgamate it. He went to the people of Goulburn and said that publicly. If the Minister does not have specific proposals she had better get some.

Bill agreed to.

Bill reported without amendment; report adopted.
