Senator RYAN (Minister for Education and Youth Affairs)(5.54) —I think Senator Peter Baume will be aware that the money for those colleges was fixed by the previous Government. We made it quite clear that while we were prepared not to proceed with the proposed amalgamations there would be no additional money available.

Senator Peter Baume —There is less.

Senator RYAN —It is the money that was fixed by the previous Government. I think we might be looking at some need to adjust for the 1984 year because I am assured by the officers that the same amount of money was available. The most recent advice from the Commonwealth Tertiary Education Commission with regard to the Goulburn campus is that if a proposal is received from the State Government it will be considered in the context of planning for the 1985-87 triennium. I understand that a specific proposal has not yet been received by the Commonwealth Tertiary Education Commission from the New South Wales Government. We will have to monitor that situation and I will inform Senator Baume as matters develop.
