Senator BOSWELL —Is the Minister representing the Minister for Defence aware of the Premier of Queensland's public offer to use the Queensland Cairncross dry dock to repair the carrier HMS Invincible? What would the Government's attitude be to the Premier's public offer of support to our allies which would save it the enormous embarrassment of ratting on its friends?

Senator GARETH EVANS —The Government is no more likely, in the present context than in any other, to have the Premier of Queensland handling either its foreign affairs policy or its defence policy for it. I am sure that with all the grace we can muster we will tell him what he can do with his dry dock in this instance .
