Senator GARETH EVANS (Attorney-General)(3.16) —I regard it as being clear, as a matter of law, that the regulations are superseded by the terms of the Bill. If that is not clear, if I have it wrong, I assure the honourable senator that the form of the ballot paper will be in accordance with today's debate rather than with the regulations themselves. Certainly, there is no intention to proceed with the regulations.

Senator Harradine —Are the regulations thereby withdrawn?

Senator GARETH EVANS —I do not know whether they are withdrawn automatically, but I suppose we can ensure that they are.
