Mr Kerr asked the Minister representing the Minister for Justice and Customs, upon notice, on 3 April 2001:

Have any buildings owned by the Australian Customs Service (ACS) been sold during 2000-2001; if so, will the Minister provide details of (a) the location of any buildings which have been sold, (b) any valuations of market value which were obtained prior to sale, (c) the sale price and (d) if the property was subsequently leased back by the ACS, the details of the subsequent lease agreement.

Mr Williams (Attorney-General) —The Minister for Justice and Customs has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:

The Australian Customs Service (Customs) has not sold any commercial buildings during 2000-2001.

During 2000-2001 Customs sold a residence at 12 Ryan Close, Brinsmead, Cairns, Queensland. The property was valued between $137,500 and $145,000 and was sold for $138,500. The property was not leased back by Customs.
