(1) Will the Government's new Postgraduate Loan Education Scheme be made available to Australia's two private universities, Notre Dame University in Fremantle and Bond University on the Gold Coast.

(2) What reasons can he give for the policy decision in referred to in part (1).

Dr Kemp (Minister for Education, Training and Youth Affairs and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service) —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1) The Postgraduate Education Loans Scheme will be available to Notre Dame University but will not be available to Bond University.

(2) The Government has made the Postgraduate Education Loans Scheme available to students who are enrolled at universities which receive Commonwealth operating grant funding under the Higher Education Funding Act 1988 and have access to the Higher Education Contribution Scheme.
