Mr STEPHEN SMITH (3:06 PM) —My question is to the Deputy Prime Minister, Leader of the National Party and Minister for Transport and Regional Services. Is the Deputy Prime Minister aware that section 8BUA of the Telstra Corporation Act 1991, introduced into the act by the government in 1999 as part of its Telstra privatisation legislation, requires that at least two Telstra directors have knowledge of, or experience in, the communications needs of regional areas? Deputy Prime Minister, following the retirement from the Telstra Board of Ms Celia Moar in November 2000, other than Mr McGauchie, which Telstra director or directors does the government say fulfils that requirement?

Mr ANDERSON (Deputy Prime Minister) —Mr Speaker, I will take that question on notice.

Mr Stephen Smith —I seek leave to table a list of the directors of the board of Telstra for the benefit of the minister.

Leave not granted.
