Mr HARDGRAVE (1:58 PM) —Yeronga Meals on Wheels is 30 years old this year and, over those 30 years, it has produced over one million meals for the people in my electorate of Moreton. Yeronga Meals on Wheels is currently producing 500-plus meals per week. It has reached a high in years past of 850 meals per week, and currently 150 citizens dedicated to assisting Meals on Wheels lend a hand each and every week. Over the 30 years, tens of thousands of people in the southern suburbs of Brisbane have benefited from the work of Yeronga Meals on Wheels. On Australia Day, the secretary of the association was awarded a Moreton Community Service Award. It was only a few days ago that I was able to personally hand that award to Esther Topping, the Secretary of Yeronga Meals on Wheels. Thirty years of service is inspiring in itself, but it is also worth noting that a lady called Dianne Burow has contributed 20 years work in the kitchen, helping those people in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves to make sure that they had meals on their tables. I am sure all honourable members would be interested to know that Dianne Burow is totally blind. For 20 years, a totally blind lady has been helping at the Yeronga Meals on Wheels. In the International Year of the Volunteer, those sorts of stories, I believe, are inspirational indeed. Congratulations to Yeronga Meals on Wheels.
