Mr St CLAIR (1:53 PM) —On Friday night I attended the opening of the 124th annual Tenterfield Show, and I would like to congratulate the President, David Calwell, and his committee, including the Secretary, Di Benson, on putting together another great show for our agricultural areas. People have heard me speak in this place on the importance of our agricultural shows and the fact that they do put on display, for everybody to see, those products and those innovative new businesses that are operating in country Australia. Also I had the pleasure of receiving, meeting and talking with the Miss Show Girl contestants, including Tammi Maher, who was the winner of the Tenterfield Miss Show Girl competition for 2001. Listening to her speech on Friday night, I realised just what talent we have in country Australia, especially listening to her hopes and aspirations of where she wants to go in the future and her absolute commitment to regional Australia and to agriculture. These shows are not possible, of course, without sponsorship and the sponsorship of the Tenterfield Show was extraordinary: over 200 sponsors came out and were able to put money forward to be able to support—(Time expired)
