To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives assembled in Parliament:

The petition of we, the undersigned Australians, draws to the attention of the House, the Government's plan to allow the operators of parks containing manufactured homes, mobile homes or caravans to impose a GST on site fees paid by residents.

Over 100,000 Australians live permanently in this type of accommodation. Many are homeowners and a significant proportion are retirees who remain in the same location for many years. Permanent park residency is not merely reserved for tourists, but rather, the only realistic accommodation option for many Australians.

The Government's plan to directly burden permanent park residents with a GST on site fees is unjust and inequitable.

Your petitioners therefore respectfully urge the House to reject any plan to impose a GST on site fees paid by residents of parks containing manufactured homes, mobile homes or caravans.

by Ms Hall (from 848 citizens).
