To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament Assembled, Parliament House, Canberra, A.C.T. 2600. We your petitioners, humbly showeth:

That Australia is passively contributing to the escalation of the nuclear arms race and its misdirection of financial and human resources by allowing:

The stationing of foreign military bases that deny our national sovereignty and have an aggressive first strike nuclear capability.

The visits of nuclear armed and powered warships which have an active role in any nuclear war, and the potential for disastrous accidents whilst in port, which could never be covered by adequate port safety plans.

The mining and export of uranium, which cannot be adequately safeguarded against being used in nuclear weapons, and testing.

Your petitioners therefore humbly pray that your honourable House disengage Australia from the nuclear arms race by removing all foreign military bases from Australia; halting the visits of nuclear powered and armed warships of any foreign power; banning the mining and export of uranium, except for medical use.
