Mr HAWKE (Prime Minister) —I inform the House that the Deputy Prime Minister and Attorney-General (Mr Lionel Bowen) is currently overseas on official duty. He will return to Australia on 30 April. In his absence the Minister for Resources and Energy, Senator Gareth Evans, is Acting Attorney-General, with the Minister for Communications (Mr Duffy) representing him in this House. The Minister for Community Services (Mr Hurford) is also overseas on government business. He returns on 2 May. The Minister for Social Security (Mr Howe) is Acting Minister for Community Services. Finally, the Minister for Local Government and Administrative Services (Mr Uren) is also overseas. Senator Gietzelt, the Minister for Veterans' Affairs, is Acting Minister with the Minister for Territories (Mr Scholes) representing the Acting Minister in this House.
