To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled:

The humble petition of certain residents of South Australia respectfully showeth:

That there is a continuing interest in heraldry within Australia by individuals, corporations and local government bodies and currently those desirous of a grant of arms must by law apply to a British institution. This is inappropriate for a sovereign nation.

Your petitioners therefore humbly pray that parliament enact appropriate legislation to create an Australian armorial authority to make grants of arms.

And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
