To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled. The petition of certain citizens of Australia respectfully showeth:

That the Hawke Government be called upon to remove the unjust and cruel Assets Test;

That the Assets Test will mean the sale of homes, of cars, and treasured possessions which have been accumulated over many years of hard work and saving;

That the introduction of the Government's grab for the assets of old people is condemned as un-Australian;

That the Government is requested to reconsider the Assets Test.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
