Mr DONALD CAMERON —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That this House- (1) notes the comment made by the Hawke Government-appointed Ambassador for Disarmament, Mr R. Butler, that deterrence is necessary so there is no nuclear war;

(2) recognises that the MX missile is essential for the United States to maintain effective deterrence and thus ensure there is no nuclear war, and

(3) calls on the Government to explain how the back-down on the MX missile tests can further the cause of deterrence when Ambassador Butler obviously believes otherwise.
