Mr ROBERT BROWN —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move, and the honourable member for Calwell (Dr Theophanous) will second:

That this House- (1) expresses its deep concern and disappointment at the breakdown of talks in January between President Kyprianou of Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mr Denktash, which were aimed at seeking a solution to the continuing partition of the Republic of Cyprus;

(2) condemns the continued occupation of Northern Cyprus by Turkish troops as a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus;

(3) calls for the immediate implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 550 of 11 May 1984; and

(4) urges President Kyprianou and Mr Denktash to persist with the evident goodwill which they brought to the recent negotiations so that a just solution to the partition can be found which recognises, respects and promotes the identity of Cyprus as one island, one nation, one people.
