Mr PEACOCK —I refer the Special Minister of State to the Prime Minister's statement yesterday in which he indicated that it would be virtually impossible for a State representative on the Inter-Governmental Committee to stop something being investigated by the National Crime Authority. To test this, but, more importantly, to have the matter dealt with after lengthy delays, will the Minister now ask the National Crime Authority to seek a reference on the recent allegations against the New South Wales drug squad, which were passed to the New South Wales police over one year ago but appear not to have been resolved?

Mr YOUNG —I can inform the House that I have written to the States. It is intended that the Inter-Governmental Committee will meet in the week commencing 19 October to discuss references that ought to be made to the National Crime Authority.
