

Schedule 1 — Urgent relief for single age pensioners
Omit “A person’s age pension rate”, substitute “Subject to section 56, a person’s age pension rate”.
2 After section 55
Insert:
56 Increased pension rate for single age pensioners
(a) a person is qualified for the age pension under this Part; and
(b) the age pension is payable to that person under this Part; and
(c) the person is not a member of a couple;
then, for the purpose of making payments under Division 4 of Part 3 of the Social Security (Administration) Act 1991 , the person’s age pension rate is worked out by adding an amount equivalent to $30 per week to the person’s age pension rate calculated under section 55.
(2) To avoid doubt, the age pension rate determined under this section is not to be used for any other purpose, including for the calculation of any other benefit or fee under this Act or any other Act.
3 Section 376
Omit “A woman’s Widow B pension rate”, substitute “Subject to section 377, a woman’s Widow B pension rate”.
4 After section 376
Insert:
377 Increased pension rate for Widow B pensioners
(1) If:
(a) a woman is qualified for the Widow B pension under this Part; and
(b) the Widow B pension is payable to the woman under this Part;
then, for the purpose of making payments under Division 4 of Part 3 of the Social Security (Administration) Act 1991 , the woman’s Widow B pension rate is worked out by adding an amount equivalent to $30 per week to the woman’s Widow B pension rate calculated under section 376.
(2) To avoid doubt, the Widow B pension rate determined under this section is not to be used for any other purpose, including for the calculation of any other benefit or fee under this Act or any other Act.
Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986
5 Section 36N
Omit “A veteran’s age service pension rate”, substitute “Subject to section 36P, a veteran’s age service pension rate”.
6 After section 36N
Insert:
36P Increased pension rate for single age service pensioners
(1) If:
(a) a veteran is qualified for the age service pension under this Part; and
(b) the age service pension is payable to that veteran under this Part; and
(c) the veteran is not a member of a couple;
then, for the purpose of making payments under Part VIII, the veteran’s age service pension rate is worked out by adding an amount equivalent to $30 per week to the veteran’s age service pension rate calculated under section 36N.
(2) To avoid doubt, the age service pension rate determined under this section is not to be used for any other purpose, including for the calculation of any other benefit or fee under this Act or any other Act.
