A Bill for an Act to provide for the protection of submarine cables, and for other purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment (Protection of Submarine Cables and Other Measures) Act 2005 .
2 Commencement
(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

The day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. |

The 28th day after the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. |

3. Schedule 1, Part 2 |
Immediately after the commencement of the provisions in Part 1 of Schedule 1 to this Act. However, if Part 1 of Schedule 1 to this Act commences before section 6 of the Australian Communications and Media Authority Act 2005 , the provision(s) do not commence at all. |

4. Schedule 2 |
The day after this Act receives the Royal Assent. |
