Senator Douglas McClelland (NEW SOUTH WALES) asked the Minister representing the Postmaster-General, upon notice:

(1)   What forms of cadetship, if any, have been made available in recent years by the Overseas Telecommunications Commission to young men and women who have recently completed their schooling and intend going on to a university, a college of advanced education, a technical college or similar educational institution.

(2)   What forms of cadetship have been made available this year by the Overseas Telecommunications Commission.

Senator GREENWOOD - The PostmasterGeneral has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1)   The Overseas Telecommunications Commission offers Engineering Cadetships to University Undergraduates who have successfully completed at least one year of an Electrical Engineering degree or diploma course. On successful completion of their courses the Cadets are appointed to positions of Engineer Grade 1.

(2)   Engineering Cadetships.
