Senator MURPHY (New South WalesLeader of the Opposition) - Mr Acting Deputy President, I move:

That the debate be now adjourned.

The intention is to resume the debate at a later hour this day. There may be some modification which may be in the interests of the Senate. I believe what I have moved will achieve the same result as what the Leader of the Government put forward. But I would like to make some modification.

The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT - This is the debate on Senator Sir Kenneth Anderson's motion for the placement of business?

Senator MURPHY - Yes.

The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT - The question is:

That the debate be now adjourned.

I think the Ayes have it.

Senator MURPHY - May that be treated as covering the subject matter of Senator Sir Kenneth Anderson's proposal so that we do not go on immediately with notice of motion No. 1 but that would be taken across with the motion and we would deal with it later?

Senator Sir Kenneth Anderson - Yes, that is my understanding.

Senator MURPHY - That is what we intend.
