Senator CAVANAGH (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister representing the Minister for Social Services, upon notice -

1.   Is a war pension considered as income for the purposes of the means test under the Social Services Act?

2.   Would a war pension of 80 per cent, or more at present deprive a person of a full social services pension; if so, was this the position at the time the means test under the Social Services Act was last reviewed?

3.   Will the Minister give immediate consideration to exemption of war pensions as income under the Social Services Act, particularly as a small war pension deprives the wife of a social services pensioner from obtaining a pensioner medical card?
