Senator PALTRIDGE - The same proposition has been put to the Government in peacetime years by a number of senators. Let me say at once that in the forefront of those senators has been my Western Australian colleague, Senator Tangney. I do not think, as a matter of practicality, that any good purpose would be served by my asking the Prime Minister to look at this matter again. What I will undertake to do - I hope this will be of assistance - is to make available to the Deputy Leader of the Opposition the lengthy statements which have been provided in the past in answer to questions on this matter, showing why, in time of peace, the scheme suggested could not be applied to the Australian scene.
