Senator CAMERON - The Minister has askedus not to worry him unduly, but surely the Government should not require a week in which to answer a simple question. In the light of the delay that has occurred, and the unsatisfactory attitude of the military officers concerned, it seems to me that the position is not as it should he. I trust that the Minister will take action to see that if the mother is entitled to object to her son being sent overseas he will not be. permitted to go.

Senator Sampson - Does the young man wish to go overseas ? Has hebeen consulted at all?

Senator CAMERON - According to his mother, he has been consulted and desires to be discharged. This and similar complaints are having an adverse effect on recruiting, because parents discuss these matters with one another, and the position cannot be satisfactorily explained.
