Senator E B JOHNSTON (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister representing the Minister for the Interior, upon notice -

1.   With reference to replies given in the Senate on the 1 3th November, to questions asked by Senator E. B. Johnston regarding the new time-table on the Great Western Railway, has the' attention of the Government been drawn to a statement by the State Commissioner for Railways, appearing in the West Australian of the16th instant, to the effect that the reply is incorrect so far as it refers to the attitude of the Western Australian Railway Department?

2.   Is it a fact, as stated, that the Western Australian Railways Commissioner " stood out strongly for a return to the pre-depression time-table, involving the departure of trains from Perth on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays."?

3.   Is it the intention of the Commonwealth Railways Department to accede to this request?

4.   If not, why not?
