Senator COLLINGS (Queensland) . - I second the motion, and, on behalf of the Opposition, associate myself with the sentiments expressed by the Leader of the Government (Senator Pearce). I had not the privilege of personal contact with the late Mr. Mauger, but as a young man I knew of his wonderful public service, and admired him as a champion of those who, in those days, as at present, badly needed a champion, but sometimes failed to secure one. Again I say that it is our duty, as members of this chamber, to pay tribute to public men who have rendered distinguished service. The Opposition desires to be associated with the message of sympathy to the family of the deceased gentleman.
