Senator RAE asked the Minister representing the Attorney- General, upon notice -

1.   What is the approximate number of adult residents of the Federal Capital Territory who are disfranchised by reason of their residence in that area?

2.   Inasmuch as section 125 of the Constitution Act provides that the " Seat of Government of the Commonwealth .... shall be in the State of New South Wales," does not the area granted by that State to the Commonwealth for the purposes of a Capital city still remain in law and in fact a part of the State of New South Wales?

3.   If so, pending the passage of a measure to provide for some form of special representation, will his Government favorably consider an amendment of the Electoral Act in the present session to temporarily attach the Federal Capital Territory for electoral purposes to the nearest adjacent Federal electoral division ?
