Senator McGREGOR (South Australia) (Vice-President of the Executive Council) (3:17 AM) . - I have very little to reply to. I sympathize with the Leader of the Opposition, but we are nearing theclose of the year, and I am aware that a number of honorable senators are anxious to get to their homes in time for Christmas. It will be difficult for some of them to do so, even though they should? leave now. That is my justification for desiring to push on with this measure. I hope that after it is carried we may have the Estimates before us. We can then proceed with them, and there will he somechance, of our being able to speedily conclude the work of the session.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read a second time.
