Senator GIVENS (Queensland) . - I should like to know whether the Government propose this session to ask for legislative sanction for the working of the railways in the Northern Territory. When the Territory is surrendered, the Commonwealth will become responsible for the working of the Port Augusta to Pine Creek railway, and also for the Port Augusta to Oodnadatta railway. At present we have no railway department, no legislative machinery for working railways, and no regulations affecting them. Therefore, I wish to know what the Government propose to do. Is it intended to introduce legislation providing for the management of the railways taken over, and is it intended to take over all the railway servants employed on the two lines for which we shall become responsible?
