Mr Morris asked the Minister for Post and Telecommunications, upon notice:

(1)   What facilities were made available by Telecom Australia or Australia Post to ATN Channel 7, Sydney, associated with the conduct of a recent telethon for the Children 's Medical Research Foundation.

(2)   How many telephone sets were installed.

(3)   What were the installation fees payable.

(4)   What charges will be made.

(   5 ) When were the connections or installations provided.

(6)   When will they be disconnected.

(7)   What deductions were made by ATN7 from its appeal collections.

(   8 ) What was the amount promised by contributors.

(9)   What was the amount collected.

(   10) What auditing procedures are followed in respect of funds promised and collected.

(11)   Who carries out the audit.

(12)   Will a public report be made available promptly of proceeds of money handled by ATN7.

Mr Eric Robinson (MCPHERSON, QUEENSLAND) - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   Nil.

(2)   to (6) Not applicable.

The remaining questions do not fall within my Ministerial responsibility but I have received the following information from ATN Channel 7 which may be of interest to the honourable member

(7)   Nil but the station itself accepted costs to some $33,000.

(8)   Approximately $306,000.

(9)   To 12 October 1976 $246,862.88 had been banked. Further donations are expected.

(10)   Donations are being handled directly by the Children's Medical Research Foundation administration using their prescribed procedures.

(11)   Messrs Priestley and Morris who have been auditors to the Foundation since its inception in 1 958.

(12)   The total amount received will be brought into account in the Foundation's published 1976-77 Annual Report.
