Mr Clyde Cameron (HINDMARSH, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister for the Interior, upon notice:

In view of the increasing expenditure by his Department on survey work being carried out by private practising surveyors indicated by a rise from $18,734 te 1962-63 to $485,106 in 1969-70, will he state whether the budgeted expenditure on this item tor 1970-71 reveals a further increase and if there is likely to be any additional increase in the revised estimate.

Mr Hunt (GWYDIR, NEW SOUTH WALES) (Minister for the Interior) - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

The provision made in the 1970-71 estimates of expenditure for this item for the Department of the Interior, including the Northern Territory Administration, was $535,000. The amount sought in the revised estimates 1970-71 was $642,200.
