Mr DAVIDSON (DAWSON, QUEENSLAND) (Postmaster-General) - I have not in my mind at the moment the detailed information that has been requested by the honorable member for East Sydney regarding the use of certain Japanese equipment, but I shall obtain it for him. However, I would point out that the implication in the honorable member's question that the department is obtaining equipment from overseas, whether from Japan or anywhere else, to the detriment of the Australian industry is entirely incorrect because, as I have stated previously, the department has been steadily building up its use of Australian equipment of various kinds. As a result of the department's help, several organizations in Australia have been built up and depend largely on the department's work. More than 80 per cent, of the total equipment necessary in the department is being produced by Australian manufacturers.
