Mr PETERS (SCULLIN, VICTORIA) - In the absence of the Minister for Trade, I direct a question to the Minister for Primary Industry. Are negotiations proceeding for a trade treaty between Australia and Japan? If so, to what extent, if any, are Australian manufacturing interests being consulted about the matter, or being kept advised of the progress of the negotiations? If negotiations are being conducted, why is the Australian public not informed of the subjects being dealt with and the Government's attitude in regard to them?
