Mr DEDMAN - The present procedure with regard to the disposal of motor vehicles is that the Disposals Commission sells them to motor interests which distribute them through the ordinary trade channels. Subject to certain priorities established for the purpose of setting aside a certain number of vehicles for ex-servicemen - and this is only a voluntary arrangement with the motor trade -the flow of motor vehicles is free to take place in the interests of the community at large. If the Government were to take steps to direct the flow of motor vehicles into any particular channel, whether to traders, or primary producers, or any other section of the community, it would obviously be an interference with the free flow of motor vehicles which, subject to the priorities to which I have referred, is taking place at the present time.
