Mr WHITE - In Victoria, as the Minister representing the Minister for Health and Social Services doubtless is aware, blankets that are distributed to needy persons as a relief measure during the winter months are paid for out of subscriptions that are made on the invitation of the' Melbourne Herald. The Commonwealth Government is not represented on the committee which handles the matter. In view of the fact that many thousands of army blankets have accumulated, and will deteriorate unless used, will the Minister consult the Prime Minister, in order to determine whether a number of them may not be donated to the relief committee in each State, in order that the needs of those who require them may be met during thewinter months?
