Mr Calwell l asked the Prime Minister, upon notice -

1.   Who are the officers of the Public Service (permanent, temporary and on loan) who have received increases in salaries of more than £50 since the war began?

2.   What were the salaries of such officers nt the outbreak of war, what are their present salaries, and to what department do they belong?

3.   What is the age of each of such officers?

Mr Curtin - I am informed that a large amount of work would be involved in answering the honorable member's question. It is desirable to avoid this, if possible, particularly as there is a shortage of staff in Commonwealth departments. I should be glad if the honorable member would simplify his question. If that be done an endeavour will be made to answer it as completely as circumstances permit.
