Mr CALWELL (MELBOURNE, VICTORIA) - Will the Prime Minister consult with the Minister for the Army regarding the action of the Army authorities in derating, for no justifiable reason, certain returned soldiers who are employed with the rank of sergeant or corporal in the office of the District Finance Officer in Melbourne, so that girls might be employed in their places, the soldiers being drafted into labour battalions as privates? Will the Prime Minister say whether this practice is to be discontinued, or whether it is to be continued with governmental approval?
