Mr CURTIN - I did not regard the honorable gentleman's request as one for priority to be given to the problems of primary producers over the necessities of the war organization, and did not intend that that should be deduced from my reply; but, I considered that it was necessary to say to the country at large that there are problems of this nature which at the present juncture cannot be dealt with adequately by the Government because of its preoccupation with the conduct of the war itself. The economic changes that have had to be made were inevitable. I assure the honorable gentleman that I did not misunderstand his question.
