Department of Trade and Customs

Proposed vote,£726,000.

Department of Health

Proposed vote,£135,500.

Department of Commerce

Proposed vote,£510,000.

Ordered to be considered together.

Mr Curtin - I submit that there is no reason why you should not leave the chair, Mr. Nairn, for a reasonable interval. It would mean, of course, that we should have to cut down time for the discussion of these departments, but I am making my plea on behalf of the officials of the House, including the Hansard staff, the clerks, attendants, &c, as well as on behalf of honorable members. I think there ought to be an interval of twenty minutes, at least, for a meal.

Sitting suspended from 640 to 7 p.m. [Quorum formed.]
