Mr JOLLY (Lilley) .- Will the Treasurer say whether it is intended to ask for the preparation of these returns quarterly?

Mr Casey - No; only those that are absolutely necessary, for example, those in respect of retail prices.

Mr JOLLY - I hope that only those returns that are necessary and which will serve some good purpose will be required, because the preparation of detailed information involves a good deal of work, and very often is most inconvenient to the people concerned. I know that much difficulty is experienced in complying with the law, not only by the banks and other institutions mentioned by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Curtin), but also by other persons in the community.
