Mr BRUCE (FLINDERS, VICTORIA) (Assistant Treasurer) . - The suggestion of the honorable member is entirely unfounded. The clause provides that three days' notice shall be given, but that refers to the notice to the AttorneyGeneral of a State. This action is to be preceded by a motion, and there is no necessity for extending the period of notice. Three days is sufficiently long for the Attorney-General to enter an appearance, and, if further time is necessary, the court, at its discretion, may grant an extension. The honorable member's suggestion that this is an attempt to restrict the time allowed for the preparation of a defence is a reflection on the court, not on the Government.

Amendment agreed to.
